Odyssey prioritizes community. We know that strong connections to one another help us go further and better enjoy the journey. We nurture community on campus and encourage, in fact, require, our students to experience that same connection and commitment in the community at large. Community service strengthens local ties, promotes empathy, and give us greater insight into how we function and interact within the greater world.
Our community service program has two components:
In-School Community Service
We partner with community organizations to create service projects in which students participate. These experiential learning opportunities are educational in nature and are done either as a class or with the whole school.
Independent Community Service
Students identify issues, and either in small groups or the entire school community, work with or on behalf of an organization. The independent service program requires each student to complete a minimum of 30 hours of community service outside of the school day.
